- Traditional Tartans represent specific Scottish family Clans. All Tartans are Plaid, but not all Plaid are Tartans! I am not sure if this Plaid is an authentic family Tartan or not. If you happen to have a Scottish Family Clan name, you can find your Tartan online with a quick Google search. In the modern age, Plaid is celebrated and worn all over the world by people of all lineages and backgrounds.
